Treatment of redness of emulsion synthesized by AAEM
Although AAEM has many advantages in introducing acetoacetyl groups into polymers, there are still some problems in practical production in China, such as polymerization stability and storage stability of acrylic emulsion, and when crosslinking with adipic dihydrazide, the emulsion is easy to redden and can not be used. In fact, these problems are still closely related to the structure of AAEM. Simply speaking, it is caused by active hydrogen on methylene.
In the interconversion of keto-form and enol-form of acetoacetyl group, it is easy to produce a macrocyclic hydrogen bond lactone on the side chain, which is a very unstable structure. As a polar solvent, water is more likely to lead to such a structure. The solution is to use suitable alkali (such as ammonia water or triethylamine, etc.) as pH regulator in emulsion synthesis, so that macrocyclic hydrogen bond lactone can be transformed into a more stable enol anion structure, ensuring polymerization stability and storage stability.
